This one we liked, a lot… aimed at the pre-school age group this augmented reality app makes reading stories to younger children seriously good fun – or maybe we just wished this was around when we were kids.
A company called Arthouses came up with ‘AR Picture’ which is specially designed with early childhood education in mind. After installing the application on your Phone or Tablet, put the camera on the smartphone or iPad in front of the pictures in the book and the user will see 3D pictures coming out of the book. The pictures, coupled with music and cartoons, are a lot of fun and resulted in every parents favorite phrase ‘Again! Again!’ being heard over and over.
Not only is the idea a lot of fun to start engaging preschool kids in books but is also a great help for helping slightly older children to develop their imagination and concentration ability. Be warned though, you may find yourself not wanting to share this one.
